Tournament Rules
These rules are intended to be all-inclusive, but on occasion, a situation may arise not covered by these rules. If this occurs all participants agree to be bound by any decision made by the Tournament Committee.
1. Official Tournament Registration:
1.1) Participating Teams shall register at Tournament Headquarters at Kate Andrews High School (2112, 21st St ) sixty (60) minutes prior to playing their first game. Only those players listed on the rosters submitted at the time of Registration shall participate in the tournament. Guest players will be accepted with your registration. Guest players must have proof of age and eligibility.
1.2) A maximum of twenty (20) players per team will be allowed to register.
1.3) A maximum of twenty (20) players per team will be allowed to dress for any one game.
1.4) A Game sheet is required for each game. Coaldale Thunder will provide Tournament Game Sheets at the time of registration. Tournament game sheets must be filled out by a team official and signed by the coach. The participating players' names must be printed and legible. The game sheet must be completed and handed to the referee before the kickoff time
2. Schedules:
2.1) The schedules prepared for the tournament will not be changed for any reason other than weather. Weather delays may result in either abandoned games being declared as complete games, immediate or deferred shootouts, or in reschedules, at the discretion of the Tournament Committee. Coaldale Thunder reserves the right to assign any team, to any pool, based on the registrations received for the Tournament.
2.2) If a team is unable to field a minimum of seven (7) players by ten (10) minutes after the scheduled kickoff time then that team will forfeit the game. The official result of a forfeit is a 3-0 win for the non-offending team (the shutout bonus point will not be applied in this instance), and zero points for the offending team.
2.3) If both teams are unable to field a minimum required number of players (as stated in 2.2 above) then both teams will be assigned zero points for the game.
2.4) If a team fails to show for a tournament then the games scheduled for that team will be awarded as 3-0 wins to their opponents (the shutout bonus point will not be applied in this instance). A tournament no-show will result in the forfeit of all registration fees and may effect future participation in Coaldale Soccer Association Tournaments.
3. Competition Format:
3.1) A double Round Robin will be played with no playoff. Each team plays two games against each team.
4. Game Ball and Uniforms:
The home team, which is the first team listed in the schedule, shall be required to provide two (2) suitable game balls. Each teams' uniform shall be clearly distinguishable from the opposing team. If the referee decides there is a color clash then the home team (as listed in the schedule) will be required to change. All players' jersey numbers must correspond to the numbers on the game sheet.

DECISIONS MADE BY THE REFEREE DURING THE COURSE OF THE GAME, AND THE RESULTS OF THE GAME, SHALL BE FINAL.
5.5) In the event that a referee fails to show for a game, every attempt will be made to provide a neutral and qualified replacement. The wound must be cleansed and securely covered before the player may resume playing. The player may only resume playing with the permission of the Referee and after a Referee has inspected the covering.
8. Discipline:
8.1) Each game sheet will be inspected for the "Referee's Report" and the following minimum discipline shall automatically apply to the individuals involved:
- Any player who receives two cautions (i.e. two yellow cards) during the course of a single game shall be suspended for the remainder of that game.
- Any player who is sent off (i.e. shown a red card, other than by means of a "second caution as described above) shall be suspended for a minimum of one additional game, which shall be served during the following game. Red Cards in Round Robin play carry over into Playoff Games.
8.2) After considering the circumstances of a player's dismissal, the Discipline Committee will set the length of any additional suspension. Any additional red cards received by the player shall result in their immediate disqualification from further participation in the tournament.
8.3) If a coach, team official, or team supporter is ordered away from the sideline and/or field, then the coach of the offending team must meet with the tournament disciplinary committee immediately following the game, or as decided by the Discipline Committee.
8.4) Threats towards and assaults on officials during this tournament will generate an immediate suspension of the individual responsible for this behavior pending the ASA Discipline Committee action in accordance with the ASA Rules and Regulations.
FOUL AND ABUSIVE LANGUAGE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!
9. Tie Breaking Procedure:
For those teams tied for points following Round Robin Play, the following procedure will be used to break the tie…
- Result of the game played between the two teams
- Lowest goals against
- Goal differential (Goals for - goals against)
- Most goals for
- Fewest red cards
- Fewest yellow cards
If the teams remain tied after all of the above tie breakers have been applied, a five (5) player shoot out will be held at a field and time determined by the Tournament Committee to break the tie.
If still tied after five (5) players shoot, individual players are selected to continue on a sudden victory basis.
Every player on the team roster (to a maximum of 18) must participate in the shootout as required.
Players who do not participate in the shootout may be ineligible for subsequent game(s).
It is a team's responsibility to know when they are involved in a shootout, and to obtain the time and location of the shootout from Tournament Headquarters. Teams arriving later than 10 minutes after the scheduled start time for their shootout will forfeit the game. Teams not showing for their shootout will forfeit their game.
